The white plastic head is very tough and flexible so don't be afraid of breaking it.

Best way is to bend the end of the plastic base whilst pulling up the middle of the plastic base where the thread for the pole meets it, this is also a very flexible part.

Then slide off one end of the pad from the base, the other end will now just slide off.

To get the new pad on, get one end fitted, then for the opposite end, do the same as removing , pull up the middle of the plastic base, almost like trying to bend it in half, and say if right handed, bend the end flexible part downwards or away from you , you will see the line where the ends flex, and insert into the pad.

Job done.
